The Figiro Trio have morphed into a quartet...

The Figiro Trio have morphed into a quartet for this year's Callander Jazz & Blues Festival. The Figiro Quartet are a light jazz and swing group hailing from the west of Scotland who specialise in bringing a vintage twist to modern classics, with covers ranging from Nina Simone to The Beatles and from Édith Piaf to Jessie J. Vocalist Fiona Kalin started her recording and singing career with the Renaissance Singers in Belfast, winning the Montreux International Choral Festival in 1986. Gilmour MacLeod on piano studied music at Trinity College of music in London and a soloist he performed the Grieg piano concerto at St John’s Smith Square in Westminster. Bassist Bob Kalin studied music theory and conducting at the State University of New York in the early 1980s and is presently the curator of the Beacon Arts Centre Jazz Club. John Patton on drum has shared the stage with a range of Scottish Jazz artists such as Brian Molley, Konrad Wiszniewski and Stuart Gorman. Catch them at this year's 17th Callander Jazz & Blues Festival between Sep 28-Oct 01.
